Purdue Amateur Radio Club
About
The Purdue Amateur Radio Club is a ham radio club for the students of Purdue and for the amateur radio operators of the Lafayette area. The club is based out of the West tower of the Purdue Memorial Union, in room 370. Here, members can talk to other ham radio operators around the world with high frequency (HF) radios, work on their projects with club equipment, rest between classes, and collaborate with other members. The club also partners with several organizations around campus including the weather balloon team, the student radio station WCCR, the Association for Mechanical Engineering Technologists (AMET), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and others.
Engineering and technology students will be able to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to the real world through the clubs' projects and operation. The school year is saturated with ham radio contests and social events that members are encouraged to participate in. By joining W9YB, students will become a part of a legacy which has changed the face of mondern radio communication, and may very possibly make a few friends along the way.
