About

The Purdue University South Asian Student Alliance (SASA) founded in 2002 is a student led group that represents the countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The purpose of the organization is to provide Purdue University students and faculty who are of South Asian descent, or those interested in South Asia, with an environment in which they can meet, learn and participate in cultural events with others of the same interest. The efforts of this organization shall target individuals both inside and outside of South Asian and South Asian American communities.

SASA's purpose is to maximize the potential of the organization through its vast membership, to increase the awareness and collaboration of South Asians as well as other South Asian organizations on campus and in the community, to preserve the rich cultural heritage of South Asia, and to unite South Asians and people of other races by learning from diversity.
 

SASA was created with the intent to fulfill the following goals:

-Bring together the South Asian community on this campus
-To promote South Asian culture
-To create various types of events including the cultural, social, professional, and service aspects of our diverse community.
