About
Purdue SAE Aero is a Design-Build-Fly team that aims to give students experience in aircraft design, development, and manufacturing.
Our organization competes internationally against other universities in the SAE Aero Design East and SAE Brasil Aerodesign competitions. We offer work in the complete design process:
1. Conceptual Design
- Requirements Analysis
- Configuration Development
- Initial Sizing
1. Preliminary Design
- Discipline-specific Trade Studies
- Aircraft Modeling
- Component Prototyping and Testing
1. Detailed Design
- Component Optimization
- Aircraft CAD Development
- Flight Testing
Students can participate in one of three subteams: Aerodynamics, Structures, or Systems and Integration. We also provide opportunities to work with autonomous flight and electric propulsion design.
