Purdue University Chapter of the Order of the Sword & Shield

The motto set-forth for the national honor society shall is “ex scientia pax” which stands for “out of knowledge comes peace", the honor society chapter shall follow the same motto. The purpose of the Purdue Chapter shall be aligned with that of the Order of the Sword and Shield, and Purdue University. The Purdue University Chapter of the Order of the Sword and Shield shall recognize the scholastic and professional achievements of students and alumni from Purdue University. This shall include all associate and baccalaureate degrees, as well as graduate degrees, in the fields of homeland security, intelligence, emergency management, and all protective security disciplines.

The mission of the chapter shall be to extend the ideals of the Order of the Sword and Shield to promote critical thinking, high scholarship and professional development. It aims to further enhance the ethical standards of the protective security professions and cultivate a high order of personal living. It shall provide a platform for networking opportunities among high-achieving student, alumni and staff. The primary goal is the peace and safety for all, and members most utilize knowledge as the primary tool for the accomplishment of this objective. The honor society chapter shall recognize this commitment and the dedication of those individuals achieving academic and professional excellence.

The honor society chapter shall support and promote all protective security disciplines practiced and taught at Purdue University. The chapter shall encourage excellence, and positively represent the Order of the Sword and Shield and Purdue University in all university and non-university settings.
