About Boiler Robotics

Boiler Robotics Club encourages students to foster innovation through hands-on experience in the process of competing in Mars Society’s University Rover Challenge. Throughout the process of building Mars rovers, members build engineering, technical, entrepreneurship, and soft skills as well as meet other like-minded people passionate about space exploration, engineering, and innovation.

BRC consists of three sub-teams(electrical, software, and hardware) as well as a business team.

About the University Rover Challenge (URC)

The University Rover Challenge (URC) is an annual competition sponsored by Mars Society held at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. University teams are challenged to create rovers that can perform various challenges in a simulated Martian environment. It is one of the world’s largest space vehicle/rover competitions with 84 teams from 13 countries registered just this year. Mission tasks vary year-to-year but typically focus on autonomous terrain traversal, habitat equipment servicing, presence-of-life extraction and detection, and extreme cargo retrieval and deposition. More information is available at their website.
